    We've renamed this shrub to Ooray Plum & Vanilla, but the recipe is exactly the same.

    ‘Ooray’ is the indigenous name for this beautiful native rainforest fruit, sometimes known as Davidson Plum, but always was and always will be Ooray. There are other Aboriginal words for these beautiful fruits, Ooray comes from north QLD as does the variety of fruit we use.

    Ooray are native bush food that look a bit like a plum and grow directly out of the tree trunk! We use only whole organic fruit - no powders or extracts. 

    Tangy, tart with a punch of bright red colour, we have added soft, sweet vanilla to this seasonal rarity. The resulting flavour is reminiscent of a traditional cream soda but with a native Australian twist. 

    We make this ooray shrub from the QLD variety of this fruit, Davidsonia pruriens, grown and harvested on Bundjalung Country, Northern NSW. 

    Benefits

    A comparative study done by the RIRDC (Rural Industries Research and Development Corporation) of Ooray (Davidsonia pruriens) vs blueberries found that:

    - the antioxidant capacity of Ooray was 2.7 times higher than that of blueberries
    - lutein content twice that of Blueberries
    - Anthocyanin content greater than Blueberries
    - similar folate level
    - similar Zn (zinc) level
    - higher levels of the minerals Mg (magnesium), Ca (calcium), P (phosphorus), K (potassium), Mn (manganese) and Cu (copper)
    - Na (sodium) levels 3.6 times lower

    She’s a superfood, there’s no doubt.
    How to use

    Add 35ml of shrub to a 200ml of glass of sparkling water and ice for a refreshing bright pink botanical spritzer.

    This my favourite flavour and shrub! Davison plums have 3 times the vitamin C of an orange! Davidson plum contains potassium and also contains lutein (a compound that plays an important role in eye health and wellbeing), vitamin E, folate, zinc, magnesium and calcium. so this one is a real health beauty plus it has the best colour! thanks pyewackets for such an original blend of goodness <3 <3

    Ok I agree this is the queen of the shrubs. It's just magic. So delicious, sweet+ tangy and sooo sexy vanilla-y! I got really addicted to adding a splash to my water to make it fancy. The colour is divine, and as a non drinker it really is delicious in a nice wine glass to savour the rich colour and flavour.
